Terms of Use

These terms cover using CodexHow's tools, reference pages, and paid product. By using this site, you agree to them.

What this site is

CodexHow is an independent reference and toolset for developers working with OpenAI Codex and the Codex CLI. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI. Every number on this site is sourced from OpenAI's own published pages and re-checked on a stated cadence, but this site is not a substitute for reading OpenAI's own documentation before making a decision with real financial or operational consequences — treat every figure here as a planning aid, and treat OpenAI's own account dashboard and API responses as the final authority on your actual bill and your actual rate limits.

No warranty on accuracy

We work hard to keep every figure accurate, dated, and sourced, and we say so plainly when a figure is not published rather than guessing. Even so, this site is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind regarding the completeness or accuracy of any calculator, comparison, or reference page. Pricing, rate limits, and model behaviour on OpenAI's side can change without notice; a real discrepancy between this site and OpenAI's current published figures should be reported through the contact page so it can be corrected.

The tools

Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser — none of them call an external API to produce a result, and none of them store the inputs you enter anywhere on our servers (the one exception, the usage tracker, stores data only in your own browser's local storage, and says so on its own page). Results are for planning purposes and are not an invoice, a quote, or a guarantee of what OpenAI will actually charge you.

The cross-provider comparison

The cross-provider cost comparison tool prices a workload you describe against OpenAI's published rates and against rates you supply yourself for a second provider. We do not publish, verify, or take responsibility for rates you enter for a provider other than OpenAI — that responsibility is yours, and the tool exists to help you reason about a real comparison, not to certify one.

The paid product

The Codex Cost Control Workbook is a downloadable PDF built directly from this site's own facts module. It is delivered digitally after purchase. Refund requests are handled individually — contact us and we'll sort it out.

Donations

Donations support the ongoing work of re-checking this site's figures on a weekly cadence. Donations are not refundable except where required by law, and do not create any ongoing obligation on our part beyond continuing to run the site in good faith.

Acceptable use

Don't scrape this site's content wholesale to build a competing product without attribution, don't attempt to disrupt the tools or infrastructure, and don't use the contact form or newsletter signup for anything other than genuine correspondence.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the site changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the current version.
