Privacy Policy

This page describes exactly what CodexHow collects, why, and how to opt out where an option exists. It is written to match what the site's code actually does, not a generic template — if a section here ever stops matching the code, that is a defect in the code, and this page should be believed over it.

Analytics

CodexHow uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are actually useful, and Vercel's own analytics for basic traffic and performance monitoring. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as your IP address (processed, not stored raw), device type, browser, approximate location, and the pages you visit. Vercel Analytics is cookieless and does not track you individually across visits.

You can opt out of Google Analytics generally using a browser extension such as Google's own opt-out add-on, or by using your browser's tracking-protection settings — this site does not currently gate analytics behind a cookie-consent banner, and does not claim to.

Advertising

CodexHow may carry ordinary display advertising, most likely through Google AdSense, to help cover hosting costs. No post is sponsored, no comparison table is influenced by an advertiser, and no advertiser sees a page before it is published — advertising, where it appears, never decides what a page says. If and when advertising is active, the network serving it (typically Google) may use cookies to personalise the ads you see based on your visits to this and other sites; you can review and adjust ad personalisation through Google's My Ad Center, and opt out of interest-based advertising more broadly through aboutads.info.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to pricing-change alerts, your email address is stored with Brevo, our email provider, solely to send you that newsletter and the one-time welcome email that follows a new signup. Re-submitting an address you're already subscribed with does not trigger a second welcome email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send; unsubscribing removes you from future sends.

Contact form

Messages sent through the contact form are delivered via Formspree to our inbox and are used only to respond to you. We do not add contact-form senders to the newsletter unless you separately subscribe.

Payments

Purchases and donations are processed by Stripe. CodexHow does not receive or store your card details — Stripe handles payment data directly under its own privacy and security practices. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and the amount, not your card number.

What we don't do

CodexHow does not sell personal data to third parties, does not run a tracking pixel network beyond the analytics and advertising described above, and does not build cross-site profiles beyond what Google's advertising and analytics products do on their own infrastructure.

Data retention

Newsletter subscriber addresses are retained by Brevo for as long as you remain subscribed, and removed on unsubscribe. Analytics data follows Google Analytics 4's and Vercel's own standard retention windows, which we do not override. Contact-form messages are retained in our inbox for as long as needed to resolve the question raised, and are not systematically archived beyond that.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general developer audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects or how it's used changes in a way that matters, this page will be updated and the change will be visible in the page's own history. There is no separate mailing list for policy changes — the policy itself is the record.
